Heat seal strength test method

The heat seal strength refers to the maximum load when the plastic is heat-sealed on the plastic or other substrates (such as aluminum foil, etc.) and the heat-sealed part of the plastic composite bag when it is separated or broken. The heat seal strength can be used to measure the strength of the plastic heat sealing part.

Testing Instruments:

Auto Tensile Tester TST-02H, testing accuracy:0.1% FS, speed of crossbeam:0.05~1000 mm/min (Maximum 3000mm/min customizable), accuracy of speed: ±1%, maximum stroke:1000mm, displacement accuracy: ±1%.

Test environment:

The sample should be placed in an environment with a temperature of 23°C±2°C and a relative humidity of 50%±5% for more than 4 hours, and conduct the test under this condition.

Specimen preparation:

Material: According to the heat sealing conditions specified under the product item, the samples are heat-sealed on the Heat Seal Tester . HSR-01 Heat Seal Tester produced by Horizon tester, 7inch HD LCD,displaying test data and curves in real time, Sealing Pressure: 0.05 MPa ~ 0.7 MPa (Depend on sealing area), Dwell Time: 0.1~ 999.9s, Temperature Accuracy: ±0.2 °C. Sealing Area: 330 mm × 10 mm (Customization Available).

Cut 5 specimens each with a width of 15.0mm±0.1mm in the longitudinal and transverse directions from the middle part of the heat sealing.

Composite bag: As shown in Figure 1, cut out a total of 10 samples with a width of 15.0mm±0.1mm on the side, back, top and bottom of the composite bag in the direction perpendicular to the heat-sealing part. The number of samples at each part is different. No more than one.The unfolded length is 100mm±1mm. If the unfolded length is less than 100mm±1mm, the same material as the bag can be bonded with an adhesive tape as shown in Figure 2, so that the unfolded length of the sample meets the requirement of 100mm±1mm.

Testing Method:

Take the sample, take the heat-sealed part as the center, open it to 180°, clamp the two ends of the sample on the two clamps of Auto Tensile Tester TST-02H, the axis of the sample should coincide with the center line of the upper and lower clamps, and require proper tightness to prevent The sample slipped or fractured in the fixture before the test. The distance between the clamps is 50mm, the test speed is 300mm/min±30mm/min, and the maximum load when the sample is separated or broken is read.

Examples of ASTM Testing Procedures

If the sample is broken in the fixture, the sample is invalid, and another sample is taken to redo.

Conclusion:

Test results, the material is the arithmetic average of 5 samples in the longitudinal and transverse directions, and the composite bag uses the average of 10 samples in different heat-sealing positions as the heat-sealing strength of the sample, and the unit is expressed in N/15mm.
