What is Leak Testing?

A leak test is a procedure used to determine if an object, product, or system functions within a specified leak limit. A leak occurs when a gas or liquid flows through an object via an imperfection or manufacturing defect such as a hole, crack or weak seal. These imperfections create high- and low-pressure zones within a product, forcing the gas or liquid to flow from the high-pressure area to the low-pressure area.

LEAK-01 Blister Pack Leak Tester (Leak Tester), using negative pressure method, is designed for the leakage tests of packaging bags, bottles, cans, boxes and other packaging materials. Through leak tests, the sealing processing and seal performance of the packages can be determined properly and the test results may be used for reference when determining other technical parameters.

Blister packaging is widely used in the packaging of solid medicines due to its advantages of good protection, transparency, intuitiveness, convenient use, and light weight. In order to prevent the influence of light, heat, oxygen, etc. on the medicine, and to ensure that the medicine is not damp or degenerate during the validity period, the blister pack should have a good seal. Blister packaging is a packaging method in which the product is sealed between a blister formed by a transparent plastic sheet and a bottom platecardboard, plastic film or sheet, aluminum foil or their composite materials). The sealing performance refers to the reliability of the sealing of the blister package, and the integrity of the entire product package can be ensured through this test.

The sample should be kept for 30 seconds under the condition of a vacuum of 80±13KPa, and no liquid (Methylene Blue Dye) can penetrate the blister.
